WOMEN'S CRICKET

Come join the fun and be a part of the inaugural season of the Canterbury Cricket Club’s first ever Senior Women’s XI.

With our successful Stage 3 girls’ team ready for the step up into senior cricket, we are seeking some more experienced women to offer leadership and guidance to these younger girls. We will be competing in the Cricket Victoria Community Cricket program, concentrating on participation, enjoyment and improvement, rather than on field results. Experience in playing cricket is not important, willingness to have a go and have fun with a new group of friends is the key.

As a priority, we are seeking the services of a Captain/Coach for this group. This exciting new role should appeal to experienced women cricketers looking to have some influence on the development of a talented group of girls.

On top of our exciting announcement to establish our inaugural women’s team next season, our girls program at CCC in the meantime has been thriving

We now have around 35 girls participating in our junior cricket program and have been attracting new players from the local community over the course of last season. We now offer a full development pathway for girls cricket with strongly competitive teams playing in Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3 competitions in the Inner East Girls Competition (check out our Pink Stumps Day on the website iegc.com.au).

Highlights from our season include our girls getting their hands on the Women’s World Cup at Hislop Park before it was safely secured by our Australian Women and a fantastic display (and close win) by our Stage 3 girls against Heatherdale in the very first battle for the “Canterbury Cup” on Pink Stumps Day

Our girls and the program has been supported by a wonderful group of parents across all 3 levels. We have 3 fantastic fathers (Michael, Tony and Ash) coaching our girls and 3 great TM’s in Alison, Marcella and Marianne.
We are looking forward next season to progressing our girls cricketing journeys further. For our group of older girls we hope they will form the nucleus of a senior women’s team at the club next year. Exciting times ahead for girls and cricket at CCC!!!
