Canterbury Cricket Club bids farewell to Steven “Ducky” Duckworth, after an incredible six years at the Berries.

Ducky joined the Club in 2019/20 and immediately had a season to remember. 70 wickets across all formats at an average of 9.9, including two 10-wicket hauls and six 5-wicket hauls. Joined by his best mate Chris Moore at the other end, the pair combined for 114 wickets and took us to a Grand Final in Dunstan Shield – our first in recent memory.

Steven continued to perform for the Club year in, year out. A few moments stood out to Ducky, against one rival. “Beating Mont Albert by a run at their ground, beating them again at our ground chasing plenty and beating them in the semi at their ground in front of their supporters,” Ducky said.

Even in his final year, after battling injuries throughout the season, Ducky found his form late, taking 5-29 against East Doncaster and an incredible 4-3 against Mont Albert.

Ducky finishes his time at the Club with a whopping 182 wickets to his name, at an average of just 13.49. We thank Ducky for his incredible contributions and wish him all the best.
